
PET Packaging Specialist for the Personal Care sector, the story of Spiltag began over 30 years ago, driven by the family patriarch, Luiz Augusto, who was interested in entering the label market. In 1995, he founded Spiltag, whose name originates from the family surname combined with the word “tag,” which means label in English.
At a business fair, he discovered PET resin (polyethylene terephthalate) and immediately recognized a strong opportunity in the Brazilian market for carbonated beverages and food packaging.
In 1995, Luiz Augusto Spila purchased the first Nissei machine, of Japanese origin and a world reference in PET bottle production, marking the birth of Spiltag — a company that has valued product quality control since its inception.
After Luiz Augusto Spila’s passing in 1996, his wife, Darlene de Pádua Melo Spila, took over management of the company and received guidance from a group of directors between 1997 and 2012.


During this period, there was a significant increase in the U.S. dollar and a greater presence of multinational companies in the Brazilian PET packaging market for beverages. This required increasingly more specialization, training, and differentiation to remain competitive.
Following the innovative example of its founder and seizing new market opportunities, Spiltag became a national pioneer by introducing PET packaging for the Personal Care sector, especially in small volumes, meeting the market’s demand for fast-manufactured packaging with strong chemical and mechanical resistance.
In 2012, Luiz Gustavo Spila, the family successor, assumed the company presidency, bringing a new management vision capable of preserving the good practices established by his parents, while modernizing processes and the portfolio to advance Spiltag toward its business vision: becoming a global reference in PET packaging for the Personal Care sector.
Since then, every year, Spiltag has invested heavily in continuous process improvement, implementing recognized management policies such as lean thinking, keeping pace with the national and international packaging market, acquiring more modern equipment and training its entire team according to defined strategies.
